Samsung Galaxy A24 4G Review and Specifications.
SAMSUNG GALAXY A24 4G KEY FEATURES
The Samsung Galaxy A24 is likely the most cost-effective Samsung phone available. Unlike the A10 and A00 series, the Galaxy A20 range has provided some great offerings over the years, and the new A24 4G appears to be another one of them.
If you want a cheap phone with a fluid screen, strong cameras, a long battery life, and an eye-catching design, the Galaxy A24 is just what you’re searching for. It isn’t a fast phone, let alone one designed for gaming, but it appears to handle everything else well.
Let us start with the design. It’s a classic flat form with two glossy panels and a matte frame. The 6.5-inch screen features a 1080p Super AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz, which is a wonderful bonus for this price range. Speaking of wonderful gifts, the camera department looks fantastic. A 50MP OIS primary camera is on the rear, aided by a 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro lens. There is also a 13MP selfie snapper.
The Galaxy A24 4G is not waterproof, which is a premium feature reserved for Galaxy A3x models and above. There is no 5G support or stereo speakers, which is to be anticipated given the price. At the very least, we have great alternatives like a microSD expansion slot and a 3.5mm jack.
The Galaxy A24’s most noteworthy improvements over the Galaxy A23 4G are the move to a Super AMOLED display and doubled base storage. And we appreciate both.
Pros
- Impressive primary camera
- Awesome display
- Good performance
Cons
- No charger in the box
- Dew-drop notch
SAMSUNG GALAXY A24 4G UNBOXING
The Samsung Galaxy A24 is packaged in a small paper packaging. The retail bundle includes the phone, a white USB-C cable, and a SIM ejection pin.
The Galaxy A24 supports up to 25W fast charging, but you’ll need to purchase a power adapter if you don’t already have one.
CAMERA
The Samsung Galaxy A24 has a diverse camera arrangement, including a triple back camera option. The main camera features a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and OIS. It is accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera.
While the 5MP ultrawide sensor provides well-balanced exposure, the photographs appear slightly dull and have evident noise. Nonetheless, the color profile remains consistent with the main sensor, and distortion correction is excellent on the A24.
The A24 impresses in portrait pictures with its capacity to create interesting photographs with pleasing colors, effective edge detection, and a great background blur effect. The figure stays in focus, and the skin tones appear realistic. In terms of selfies, the smartphone performs admirably in daylight, producing clear and natural-looking faces and employing efficient HDR to handle background highlights. However, indoor selfies are noisy and lack crispness.
The primary camera can record videos at up to 1080p and 30fps. Daylight videos display sharpness, bright colors, and balanced exposure, with the extra benefit of OIS stabilization. In comparison to the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, the A24 delivered better video quality. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A24’s camera setup delivers a satisfying photography and filmmaking experience, making it an appealing option in its price range.
DESIGN AND SCREEN
Samsung Galaxy A24 has dimensions of 162.1 x 77.6 x 8.3 mm and weighs 195 g. This gadget has dual SIM capabilities, including Nano-SIM support, which allows for convenient dual standby.
In terms of design, the Galaxy A24 appears to maintain its signature style for the A-series phones. The phone’s exterior resembles the Samsung Galaxy S23, with a triple-camera ring on a flat surface with the distinctive Samsung logo at the bottom. Though the back panel is constructed of plastic, it has the impression of glass, providing a sense of refinement to the gadget. However, the shiny coating on the back panel attracts fingerprints and smudges quickly.
Galaxy A24 comes in four colors: black, lime green, blue gradient, and dark red. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A24 has a robust structure, is easy to use, and has an appealing design. Slimmer bezels or a hole-punch display would surely have improved its visual attractiveness.
Looking deeper at the phone’s features, the A24 sports a single microphone on top, while the bottom has a 3.5mm headphone socket, microphone, USB-C connector, and speaker.
The triple slot on the left side can hold two nano-SIM cards as well as a microSD card for extra capacity. Meanwhile, the power and volume controls are easily located on the right side. Interestingly, the power button also functions as a fingerprint scanner, adding the convenience of always-on functionality to fast and reliable biometric authentication.
The Samsung Galaxy A24 features a considerable display update, going from a TFT to a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel. The display features a 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution and provides a clean and vivid visual experience. A 90Hz refresh rate improves overall smoothness, resulting in a speedier and more enjoyable user experience.
With a peak brightness of 1000 nits, the A24’s AMOLED panel produces brilliant and colorful images even in direct sunlight. While HDR support is not available, the colors remain vivid, and the viewing angles are astonishingly wide.
The sharpness of the display contributes to a compelling content-viewing experience, making multimedia consumption more enjoyable on this device. However, the A24 does not allow dynamic refresh rates, so both static content and video playback have a consistent 90Hz refresh rate, with the camera app being the only exception.
HOW’S THE PERFORMANCE?
Samsung’s cheap phones are typically weak and use Exynos chipsets. However, the Samsung A24 is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G99 CPU. It is unquestionably one of the greatest chipsets for a smartphone under Rs. 30,000.
The device features an Octa-core CPU (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55), 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Its GPU is the Mali-G57 MC2. The A24 performs well in benchmarks as well. The results are comparable to the average scores of other Helio G99-powered phones.
Rather than numbers, I go by experience, and this phone is speedy. The phone responds quickly when navigating the UI, starting apps, and switching between them. It does not feel slow at all. It also performs well in games.
We tested PUBG mobile with balanced graphics and ultra frame rate. We were getting an average frame rate of 40 without any dropouts. Similarly, it can run Genshin Impact flawlessly even at low settings.
The Galaxy A24 4G is powered by MediaTek’s MT8781 Helio G99 processor. This octa-core CPU includes two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz for high-performance activities and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz for efficiency. When combined with the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, this combo delivers smooth performance for everyday workloads and moderate gaming.
The handset has 8GB of RAM, which is considerable for a mid-range phone and enables effective multitasking. The 128GB of built-in storage should be enough for most users, but there is also a dedicated microSDXC slot for those who require more space.
