In the dynamic smartphone landscape, where innovation is essential for sticking out, TECNO has once again raised the bar with its latest product, the Spark 20 Pro+. Spark 20 Pro+ outstanding device that not only guarantees a sleek and strong design but also includes a slew of functions that push the limits of perfection in its class.
TECNO has been gratifying smartphone customers globally with a diverse range of devices that meet a variety of demands and tastes. The TECNO SPARK 20 Pro+ dramatically elevates the experience. It’s a wonderful pick for anyone searching for a powerful, stylish, and cost-effective smartphone.
TECNO SPARK 20 PRO+ KEY FEATURES
Tecno’s latest Spark 20 Pro+ is the pinnacle of the Spark 20 series, featuring all the manufacturer can provide at this pricing point without breaking the bank. And, while the Spark 20 Pro+ isn’t a flagship, it certainly looks like one.
The 6.78-inch AMOLED is of high quality, with 1 billion colors, an enhanced 1080p resolution, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It supports Always-on mode and features Dynamic Island-style animations surrounding its tiny punch hole.
The Spark 20 Pro+ is equipped with the Helio G99 Ultimate CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. MicroSD expansion is also available. Tecno’s Spark 20 Pro+ features a 108 MP main camera with 3x in-sensor zoom and a 32MP selfie camera. There’s also a 2MP macro camera and a small auxiliary sensor on the back for unclear reasons.
Finally, the specifications include a pair of speakers, a 5,000mAh battery with 33W rapid wired charging, and the latest Android 14 OS. Our only gripe so far is the very huge camera housing, which is primarily for show, and the Spark 20 Pro+ could have looked even more svelte without it.
Pros
- Stylish design
- Standard camera system with Super Night Mode capability
- Reliable large battery with rapid charging
Cons
- No wireless charging
- Gaming performance may struggle with intense titles
- Lack of 3.5mm headphone jack
TECNO POVA 5 PRO UNBOXING
The Tecno Spark 20 Pro+’s retail packaging is the ultimate of a full smartphone package. The kit includes a 33W power converter, a USB-C-to-A connection, and even a pair of USB-C headphones.
Tecno has also included a 9H hard glass screen protector and a transparent silicone case. The enclosure is quite thick and should adequately protect the phone. Unfortunately, the interior cradle for the gadget is constructed of plastic, which is not the most environmentally friendly material.
CAMERA
The front-facing 32MP camera and a rear 108MP main camera, as well as a micro and depth camera, enable clear and detailed images. It significantly increases image-to-background separation in portrait photographs and retains quality even at 10x zoom, beating the Spark 20 Pro.
The TECNO SPARK 20 Pro+’s 108MP main camera can capture stunning photographs in any lighting conditions. Pixel binning merges nine pixels into one, improving image quality and brightness in low-light conditions. It also includes a large sensor and a quick aperture, allowing it to collect more light at night.
The Tecno Spark 20 Pro Plus goes beyond the fundamentals to provide a more personalized and dynamic user experience. One of the noteworthy features is the option to use AI wallpaper, which allows you to create personalized wallpapers with ease. This function adds a touch of creativity and personalization, allowing you to completely modify your smartphone to fit your taste.
This includes a suite of tools meant to boost your online presence, such as in-call beauty and cosmetics filters, fill light for better visuals in low-light circumstances, and AR avatars for added fun.
DESIGN AND SCREEN
In terms of design, the Tecno Spark 20 Pro Plus establishes a new benchmark for the series. With its dual-curve profile, this model provides more visual appeal and ergonomic comfort than its predecessors. This approach demonstrates Tecno’s commitment to balancing elegance and functionality, making it a standout option in the smartphone industry.
Unlike the not-so-older Spark models, it replaces the iPhone’s iconic multiple-camera lenses with a unique circular module. The Spark 20 Pro+ comes in four beautiful colors: Temporal Orbit Black and Lunar Frost Blue are widely accessible throughout Nigeria and Kenya. However, the elusive Magic Skin Green and Radiant Starstream variants are extremely rare in these areas.
The smartphone’s display, which is protected by the sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 5, is resistant to drops and scratches to some extent, and its IP53 classification ensures it can survive splashes and dust from one direction.
HOW’S THE PERFORMANCE?
The MediaTek Helio G99 chipset powers the Tecno Spark 20 Pro+. The “Ultimate” variation of said chip is officially known as the MT6789U. We’re not clear what the “Ultimate” branding means because the CPU and GPU clocks are the same across all of the G99 chip types. Regardless, the G99 is a relatively new chip from 2022, built on a 6nm TSMC manufacturing process.
The CPU configuration consists of two ARM Cortex-A76 cores running at up to 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 2.0 GHz. The integrated GPU is a Mali-G57 MC2, which runs at 1.1 GHz. It supports both OpenGL ES 3.2 and Vulkan 1.1.
The Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ is only available in one memory variant: 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of storage. Our tests indicate that the storage chips are of the UFS 2.1 kind. A microSD card allows you to expand your storage. Up to 8GB of virtual memory is also accessible.
Moving on to the real benchmarks, let’s start with some CPU data and GeekBench. The Helio G99 is not a particularly powerful chip, but keep in mind that the Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ is a reasonably priced gadget. Not. Within its price range, the G99 provides adequate “middle-of-the-road” CPU performance.
