Samsung Galaxy S24 vs iPhone 15 Pro: Key Differences

Two compact but potent smartphones. Two of the most widely used phones available. Two examples from the most well-known mobile competitors in the world. This is how the iPhone 15 Pro and Galaxy S24 compare.

GALAXY S24 VS IPHONE 15 PRO: SPECS COMPARISON

The Galaxy S24 has changed little over the past few years, but it is still clearly identifiable. It features a metal frame, two flat Gorilla Glass Victus 2 panels, and a simple, uncomplicated design. It has IP68 certification for standard water and dust resistance. The Galaxy S24’s minimalist camera island, comprised of three uncomplicated rings, is something we appreciate.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 boasts outstanding specifications overall, including a brilliant and crisp screen, a capable triple-lens camera, and more, but its software could need some improvement. In addition to having a larger but still functional Dynamic Island and more user-friendly software than Samsung, the iPhone 15 Pro loses the Samsung Galaxy S24’s telephoto camera and has a much less remarkable screen.

The equally identifiable iPhone 15 Pro is located on the other side. However, the new titanium frame makes the body much lighter than before. Apart from that, it still has a sleek appearance and comes with Ceramic Shield glass on both the front and back. It is also IP68-rated. However, the extremely busy camera island will not be for everyone – if you enjoy this type of activity.

CAMERA

The iPhone 15 pro continues with two cameras, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S24 has three cameras. The Samsung phone has a telephoto camera, which is the primary distinction, however, it isn’t always a better photography phone.

A 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with a 3-x optical zoom are all included in the Samsung Galaxy S24. The phone has a 12-megapixel front camera that supports 4K/60p video, and it can capture 8K/30p or 4K/60p video as well.

We discovered that the 50-megapixel sensor produced the greatest results, as it demonstrated its ability to produce beautiful images with vibrant, bright colors ideal for social media in a variety of lighting scenarios. Sometimes the detail seems overly sharp, but that’s just Samsung’s aesthetic and depends on the user.

In contrast, the iPhone 15 pro sports a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera in addition to a 48-megapixel primary camera. Similar to the Galaxy S24, the iPhone has a 12-megapixel front camera that supports 4K/60p video for taking selfies and participating in video conversations.

We discovered that the iPhone 15 pro can take clear and bright photos that can be zoomed in on without losing too much detail. When shooting up close, the camera produces a lot of natural bokeh, resulting in a softly blurred background behind your subject.

While the Galaxy S24 wins in terms of zoom, we discovered that the iPhone 15 pro took considerably higher quality photographs and movies than the S24.

DESIGN AND DISPLAY

The iPhone 15 pro design is similar to Apple’s most recent iPhones, except for slightly curved edges and a color-infused rear glass panel. It is 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8mm, weighs 171g, and is available in black, blue, green, yellow, or pink. The iPhone 15 pro also has an IP68 rating, indicating that it is dust and water-resistant, and it is the first Apple smartphone to launch with a USB-C port rather than the company’s proprietary Lightning port.

The iPhone 15 pro sports an amazing 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display (1179 x 2556 pixel resolution), but the refresh rate is limited to a static 60Hz. The phone does, however, feature Apple’s Dynamic Island, which was initially featured on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, giving the display a more premium feel while also improving functionality.

Compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S24 sports reduced bezels and flatter edges. It has a glass back, a metal frame, and a small punch-hole camera on the screen, but the rear cameras are arranged differently than on the iPhone, with no major covering surrounding them.

It also has an IP68 rating, comparable to the iPhone 15 pro, and measures 147 x 70.6 x 7.6mm and weighs 167g, making it around the same size. The Samsung Galaxy S24, like most Android phones, offers a USB-C port. The colors available are Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Cobalt Violet, Amber Yellow, Jade Green, Sandstone Orange, and Sapphire Blue.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 sports a 6.2-inch AMOLED display (1080 x 2340 pixels) with a refresh rate that ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz. That outperforms the iPhone 15 pro static 60Hz refresh rate, while the Samsung Galaxy S24’s screen is brighter, reaching up to 2,600 nits versus 2,000 nits for the iPhone 15 pro.

We were as delighted with the Galaxy S24’s screen in our assessment as we were on paper, stating that we had “no complaints about the sharp and very bright display.”

HOW’S THE PERFORMANCE?

The Samsung Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 Pro are powered by two distinct chipsets. The iPhone is powered by Apple’s own A16 Bionic processor, with up to 512GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, whereas the S24 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the United States or the Exynos 2400 in Europe, with up to 256GB of storage and 8GB of memory.

We discovered that the iPhone 15 pro outperformed the Galaxy S24 in the Geekbench 6 single-core test, but the Galaxy S24 won the multi-core test, as well as GFXBench Aztec Ruins and Car Chase.

While the iPhone charges more quickly in the first 15 minutes, both devices enable USB-C charging, with a 50% charge expected in approximately 30 minutes.

In addition to wireless charging, both phones support the Qi standard, which Apple has extended to include support for Qi2, its own MagSafe standard, and accessories.
