iPhone 15 Pro vs iPhone 14 Pro: Exploring the Revolutionary Changes

The iPhone 15 range, which includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, represents Apple’s most recent and greatest smartphones. They are among the best iPhones ever created, each with features that outperform their predecessors and solidify Apple’s position as the world’s leading mobile manufacturer.

However, these new phones are hardly a complete upgrade. There are several similarities between the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro.

So, with that in mind, we’ve created this comparison, looking at what’s changed and what hasn’t, both in terms of specifications and our experiences with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro.

IPHONE 15 PRO VS IPHONE 14 PRO: SPECS COMPARISON

The 2023 generation of iPhone Pros has some significant improvements, including as the switch to a USB-C connection and a new design, although they may not be crucial to everyone. If you have a lot of Lightning accessories or love the feel of stainless steel on your fingertips, the iPhone 14 Pro may be a better choice for you than the current 15 Pro.

CAMERA

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro both include a triple-lens rear camera with a 48MP f/1.8 primary sensor, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide with a 120-degree field of view, and a 12MP f/2.8 telephoto with 3x optical zoom. They also share a 12MP f/1.9 camera on the front.

So, if photography is your primary priority, there isn’t much difference between both phones. However, the iPhone 15 Pro is a modest upgrade thanks to advances in picture processing and innovative features such as the ability to convert a snapshot into a portrait shot after it has been taken.

When we evaluated both phones, we were impressed with their cameras, praising the iPhone 15 Pro’s as “powerful and excellent” and the iPhone 14 Pro’s as “high-quality”.

Still, if you want the best iPhone cameras, look to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has a 5x optical zoom lens.

DESIGN AND DISPLAY

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro share many of the same key design characteristics. Dynamic Island is one of the most prominent, including a small hub that displays essential information – such as what music is playing on Spotify or how much time is left on your timer – and is a pleasant departure from the unsightly notch we’ve all come to expect.

The iPhone 15 Pro retains the angular, industrial look of its predecessor, but with rounded corners that allow it to fit more securely in the palm of your hand. Our Mobile Editor thinks that the current model is much more comfortable to hold and lighter due to the addition of titanium.

One final design distinction is that the iPhone 15 Pro has a USB-C charging port instead of the traditional Apple Lightning port found on the iPhone 14 Pro. This should make charging the iPhone 15 Pro more convenient and allow you to reduce the number of charging cables you own.

Both devices feature 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED displays with a resolution of 2556×1179. Apple ProMotion is available on both models, and it provides an adaptable refresh rate that ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz. This allows the display to ramp up during demanding tasks to keep everything looking smooth while also conserving battery life when necessary.

Looking specifically at the iPhone 14 Pro, we saw that the panel was sharp and extremely bright, with our reviewer claiming that no other phone is as usable in direct sunshine. Colors burst off the screen thanks to Dolby Vision HDR compatibility, and the OLED display provided ideal deep, inky blacks.

The iPhone 15 Pro was a similar scenario; support for Dolby Atmos and HDR10+ made streaming video content extremely immersive, while the high brightness allowed for excellent colour reproduction and a clean experience.

HOW’S THE PERFORMANCE?

On the performance front, the iPhone 14 Pro features an A16 Bionic CPU, making it one of the fastest phones available.

However, the iPhone 15 Pro is even speedier, thanks to a new A17 Pro CPU. This boasts a CPU that is up to 10% quicker and a GPU that is up to 20% faster, and it comes with 8GB of RAM, up from 6GB in the iPhone 14 Pro.

Along with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 15 Pro is probably the most powerful phone on the planet. But there’s still not much that can slow down the iPhone 14 Pro, so while power is a positive for the new phone, it’s unlikely to be a significant one for most people.

GET THE IPHONE 15 PRO FOR:
  • The lightweight body and softened corners provide a more comfortable grip.
  • The higher-resolution 24MP photographs.
  • The speedier A17 Pro chip.
  • The ubiquitous USB-C port supports USB 3.2 transfer speeds and provides more connectivity choices.
GET THE IPHONE 14 PRO FOR:
  • The more opulent appearance and feel of stainless steel.
  • The lesser price.
  • The Lightning port, if you’re still attached.
